We work hard to get things right, but when we make a mistake we correct it quickly and openly.

How to report an error

Email editor@bombaytimesgroup.com with the link to the story and a description of the error. Please include any supporting evidence. We aim to respond within 48 hours.

How we correct

  • Factual errors are corrected in the story and a note is added at the end explaining what was changed and when, for example: "Correction (November 6, 2026): An earlier version of this story misstated the number of notices issued. It was 428, not 482."
  • Clarifications are added when a story was accurate but could be misunderstood or lacked important context.
  • Updates to developing stories carry an "Updated" timestamp; they are not corrections.
  • We do not silently delete or rewrite published stories. Stories are removed only in exceptional cases, such as legal requirements or serious safety concerns, and we will say so.
